Alfred Edward R Bill

Alfred Edward Reed Bill was born 15 May 1896 in Lancaster. He was the eldest of four sons of Alfred Reed Bill and Mary Elizabeth Hunter who were married in 1895 in Lancaster.

Alfred senior was born in Stafford in 1871 and in the 1891 census he is boarding on Marton Street in Lancaster where he is recorded as a policeman. In 1911 the family is living at 39 Park Road, Lancaster. Alfred snr. is now a Warehouseman in a linoleum works and Alfred jnr. is working in an Oilcloth works in the pattern room department.

In 1939 Alfred Edward is living at 43 Priory Lane, Preston (Penwortham) with his wife Winifred nee Tooth. He records his job as Asst. Schoolmaster teaching woodwork and metal work and he is noted as “ARP Central Control”.
