World Jamboree 1951
Lancaster Guardian, July 1951
Local Scouts for World Jamboree
THE seventh World jamboree of the Scouting movement will be held at Bad Ischl in Austria, from August 3 to 13. The Lancaster contingent, Senior Scouts B. Daly (4th.), G. Bettany and R. Gunn (12th), R. D. Hunt and P. Atkinson (13th) who will camp with the North-West Lancashire representatives, will leave Castle station at 1 a.m. next Tuesday, joining the Scout special train from the North. Sixty-two Scouts from Northern Ireland who also entrain here will have enjoyed a brief break in Lancaster after arriving in the City at 7-30 a.m. on Monday. Five Scouts from Morecambe and Heysham will also join the train and the remainder of the County contingent at Preston. They are expected home early on August 17, and the Northern Ireland Scouts will again break their journey for hospitality provided by the Local Association. It is hoped to persuade one of the Lancastrians to forward home a brief dispatch during the progress of the Jamboree.
