Gang Show 2009

Cubs from all over the district came together to bring us a varied and entertaining show this November.

The District Commissioner Pat Griffin welcomed our guests of honour the Mayor and Mayoress of Lancaster and the show got underway. The Cubs all sang the gang show favourite “On the Crest of a Wave” to start the fun off and there were some fast paced jokes soon after from Centurion Cubs, they also had a Cornet player who was pretty good too!

Things moved on with 16th Lancaster and there were some hilarious scenes from The Three Pigs, who turned to Little Red Riding Hood for assistance, only to find she was a carrying a wolf skin jacket and a pig skin handbag and she produced a gun from her knicker leg and finished the lot of them off!

Michael Jackson and his 13th Lancaster zombies danced for us then we had some cosmic 53rd Lancaster Rappers looking cool, whilst delivering a serious “Save our Planet” message.

This was followed by jokes and a very funny Abba style number from the 34th leaders.

Once the raffle draw and intermission was over there were some great sketches from Caton Church then 3rd and 5th Lancaster plus lots more music.

During any set changes we were treated to some fast paced and wonderfully timed drumming from a Scout from 3rd Hornby, who sounded like a budding Dave Groll to my ears. Three young lads gave us a blast of the Killers number “Are we Human” which got a great reception.

The last two sketches used lots of songs, including some from our favourite musicals like 'Food Glorious Food' from Oliver!

The whole evening was a great big mixture of fun delivered by a mixture of very talented Cubs and Leaders and I am really glad I attended.

Pat Armstrong the Assistant District Commissioner for Cubs said “The Cubs have worked hard on their contributions for months, they have enjoyed taking part and I am delighted that so many people have come along and enjoyed the show.”

All the money raised will go towards the cost of a new “Loo” at Littledale Campsite.
