Splash and Dash 2008
Congratulations to Lonsdale's Team of Explorers who, at their first attempt, finished as close runners up in Splash & Dash 2008; an extremely creditable and impressive performance and 'putting Lonsdale firmly on the map'.
The Splash and Dash Adventure Challenge is a race for teams of Explorers, Network and Leaders across the Lake District, by several different methods of transport.
It is designed to bring the best in each discipline to the front across West Lancs County. The competition runs on the first weekend in October each year, and takes a day to complete. Each separate activity takes a pair of people from the team (with one exception), and the final leg is open to all the competitors in the team.
The separate activities are: running / orienteering, Canadian (open) Canoeing, Mountain Biking, Sea Kayaking, Fell run / mountaineering. Each activity is run by specialists in that activity, from West Lancashire Scouts.
Teams (consisting of 7 people) require to have specialists in each activity. Everyone does one activity, plus has the option to participate in the final challenge - a fell run.
