Lonsdale District Scouts

It’s really important that young leaders/ D of E Students are registered as soon as possible on joining the group, so that they can access these events, receive the support they need, and find out about all the other opportunities available to Explorer Scouts (including Jamborees and international trips). Young Leaders must be registered with Tracy Seton (Explorer Scout Administrator).

The forms can be found here: Forms

There is currently one opportunity to do the full training, resulting in the young leader belt, per year. This is because demand has been lower in recent years. There is a larger gap between the two main training events, to encourage the young leaders to do their missions between these two events, thus resulting in them being signed off on their final training event.

I am currently looking for people who are prepared to help in the delivery of the training events, so if you are interested- or know someone who is, please let me know. I am also trying to identify a provider for the first aid training, which has previously been free for all young leaders.

This year, I will be focussing on the following:

  • Increasing the number of Young Leaders achieving their Young Leader Belt
  • Developing a team of Young Leader Trainers
  • Supporting the recruitment of Young Leaders into every section in Lonsdale.
  • Encouraging Young Leaders to engage in the Explorer Scout Programme, and achieve their Platinum, Diamond and Queen Scout Award.
  • Ensuring every Young Leader completes Module A, within their first 6 months.

As ever, should you have any questions or queries then please do get in touch.
