Following a search process, led by Jon Minshull (Deputy DC), I am delighted to inform you that I have appointed Fiona Murray as the new Group Scout Leader at 3rd Morecambe and Heysham Scout Group with effect from the beginning of July. Fiona will be known to some of you as a parent with a child within the Group.
Fiona is a chartered engineer and has led teams both professionally and within a voluntary context, including leading STEM projects with children in schools for many years. She is an enthusiastic adventurer, with a background in walking, sailing and skiing.
I’d like to thank David Clingain, for his leadership of the group as Group Scout Leader. He leaves the Group in a strong position with exciting plans for the future. I am pleased that we will retain his experience within the Group.
Jon and I have already met with Fiona, and she is eager to begin her role and build on the many strengths of the Group. We have agreed some initial actions, which will include holding a meeting with you all, to plan for the future and arranging to visit the sections to get to know you all.
3rd Morecambe continues to go from strength to strength, and is in a very strong position to move forward, there is a dedicated team of adults offering young people wonderful opportunities. I’d like to take this opportunity to thank you for all that you do, and encourage you to continue to work together, to support Fiona, to grow the Group and offer more exciting opportunities to young people and adults in Morecambe and Heysham.
Finally, I’d like to wish you all the very best for the summer season.
Yours in Scouting,
