Queen’s badge for Lancaster Senior Scout

Lancaster Guardian 20 January 1956:

THE Queen’s Scout Badge and Certificate, awarded to Senior Scout Clifford Rigby of the 5th Lancaster Sea Scouts (Cathedral Group) was presented to him by Monsignor R.O. Brimley at the Group’s annual Christmas party in the Cathedral Social Centre on Monday night.

A talent competition was compered by Mr. McKevitt, chairman of the Parent’s Committee.  Taking part were Troop Leader B. Breslim, Senior P.L. C. Rigby, Scouts Jollys, McKevitt, M. Rigby, Day, and Cubs Wilkinson, Lamb, Chestnut and Allen.  There was a tie for first place between Scout T. McKevitt and Cub P. Wilkinson.  Judges were the Rev. B. Ruscillo and Cub Mistress Miss P.A. Walsh. 

SCOUT BADGE

Group Scout Master B. J. Toole thanked parents and the boys for their efforts during the year. He presented a 2nd class Scout badge to Scout Michael Marley.

Wolf Cub P. Wilkinson, who celebrated his birthday on the day of the party, also thanked Scouts, Cub Mistress Miss Walsh, Assistant Cub Mistress Miss Ann Howard and all parents for the party.

Assistant Scout Master J. Walsh reminded Scouts of their Scout Promise and the Scout laws. He said that if they put them both into practice, it would help them in later life to become worthy citizens.

Other entertainment was provided by Mr. Frank Page, ventriloquist and conjurer.

The party ended with prayers conducted by Father Ruscillo.  The Parents Committee and helpers included: Mesdames McKevitt, Silver, Fellows, Skelcher, Jollys, Parkinson, Walsh and Kerr.
