Two Scout Troops Are Rehearsing For Their Annual Gang Shows

Morecambe Guardian 06 November 1948:-

TWO local Scout troops are at the moment busy rehearsing in preparation for their annual “Gang” shows which are to be held this month. The 11th (Parish Church) are to stage theirs at the Memorial Hall on November 24th, 25th and 26th, and the 8th are also giving theirs this month on a date to be announced.

SCOUTS’ CYCLING TOUR.

Two senior scouts, Harrison and Crabtree of the 8th Morecambe and Heysham cycled to Barnard Castle last week-end.Leaving Morecambe about 1.30 on Saturday they went via Lancaster, Kirkby Lonsdale, Sedbergh, Brough and Bowes to Barnard Castle reaching their destination about 6.30, only to find the Youth Hostel closed. The local Police however, found them accommodation for the night. On Sunday they started their return journey coming home by a different route through Brough and Appleby joining the A6 road about two miles off Penrith. After the seemingly never-ending trip up Shap they made up for lost time on the descent taking about 20 minutes to reach Kendal. Rehearsals are already taking place for the 8th’s gang show which is due to go on the boards on the 11th of this month.
