Activity Centres are Reopening!

During the extended closure of our Activity Centres resulting from the Covid-19 outbreak, the Operating Group have been working hard behind the scenes deep cleaning and carrying out a range of maintenance and modernisation activities. These include the provision of new mattresses in the Centre at SilverHelme, refurbishment of the Littledale toilet block, electrical and WiFi improvements, in addition to the regular grounds maintenance work.  I’m sure you’d wish to join me in thanking the operating team for all their hard work and dedication during this difficult time.

In addition, the ACOG has produced a Site Risk Assessment for each centre in line with Scout Association guidelines. These Risk Assessments have now been reviewed and approved by both the District and County Risk Assessment teams.

So now, with the readiness level in England at Amber, the time is right to reopen the Centres.

Initially, day visits only will resume, subject to Groups having completed and having had approval of their activity Risk Assessments. As with all things Covid-19, the re-opening of the Centres and the range of allowable activities is subject to change, the most up to date information can be found on the District and Scout Association web sites.
