From the minutes of the Lancaster & Morecambe Boy Scouts Association meeting held on 24 March 1911.
A communication was received from Miss Speight, Balmoral House, 19 Cavendish St, Morecambe relating to the formation of troop of Girl Guides at Morecambe; Miss Baden Powell (pictured ) having requested her to submit letters from the parents of the proposed Girl Guides to the Local Association of Boy Scouts. The committee read the letters & considered them quite satisfactory. The Sec. was instructed to write the Girl Guide Headquarters to that effect.
