SilverHelme Activity Centre: Activities

The SilverHelme Activity Centre offers a wide range of activities.  Some activities are Chargeable (please refer to the information pack for prices) but many are free.  Please note that some activities do require an authorised leader to run the sessions. The Warden will ask to see Permits if relevant.

Chargeable activities at SilverHelme Activity Centre

Tomahawk throwing

SilverHelme Activity Centre has all the relevant equipment needed for Tomahawk throwing. You will require a Leader with the relevant training to run the session.

 

 

Crate Stacking

SilverHelme Activity Centre has all the relevant equipment needed for crate stacking. This activity can be run outdoors, using suitable trees, or inside the Wet Weather Shelter. You will require a Leader with the relevant training to run the session.

Abseiling and rock climbing

There is a deep cliff face, with installed anchor points, that provides an excellent opportunity for abseiling or rock climbing.

Unfortunately the Activity Centre can NOT provide approved instructors so you will need to bring an instructor along with ropes, helmets and other climbing & safety equipment.

Orienteering

There is a new 25 marker Orienteering Course at the SilverHelme Activity Centre.  There are three different Orienteering challenges you can try.

There are also simpler trails marked with wooden Squirrels and with Beaver that can also be used to develop map & navigation skills.

Squirrel & Beaver Trails

There are two new activity trails designed to be used by Squirrel & Beaver aged children. Follow the trails and complete the nature inspired tasks on the way.

Mini-Pioneering

SilverHelme Activity Centre has a small set of Pioneering Poles and a selection of ropes.  You will find the poles near the Warden's Hut.

Skills & Games

There is table tennis equipment in the Wet Weather Shelter and also a Basketball hoop. The Warden can loan out a number of “Giant” games that have been kindly donated for use on-site. Giant games currently available are Jenga, Connect 4, a Circus Skills kit and a Parachute games kit. Other games & nature equipment is available.

Campfire areas

SilverHelme Activity Centre has a number of large camp fire areas and also smaller ground fire pits in all the camping areas. There are also oil drums & frames for raised cooking fires if required. Please do NOT light fires directly on the ground except in the existing camp fire areas.
