St George’s Day Celebrations 2016

To: All Adults in Lonsdale District Scouts

This years St. George’s Day will be held at Lancaster Castle on the 24th April for all sections and adults and supporters of Scouting.

We will be meeting at 12.30pm at Dalton Square (in the Square by the statue) before parading to Lancaster Castle.

On arrival at the Castle, the flag bearers will be lined up outside the castle, whilst everyone is directed inside ready to start. The service is open-air, and so coats are advisable. The service will last approximately 40 minutes, and will be a ‘standing’ event. The service will begin at 1pm, for anyone not parading.

After the event, each section ADC will be co-ordinating an activity for their section. This will finish at 3pm back at the castle. These activities include trails/challenges around the city centre for Cubs, Scouts and Explorers, and a challenge in and around the Castle for the Beavers- What a great opportunity to promote Scouting in the City!

As ever, we will renew our promises and sing the National Anthem, so, if you get chance- you might want to check your youngsters know the words…

It is going to be a fantastic event, and great for our public profile, and I hope that you will do everything possible to promote the event, and encourage your members to attend (encouraging them to be smart and look the part!). I appreciate that the chaos with Easter Holidays this year have added an additional challenge for us, and that these final details are out later than we’d like, but, we are a resourceful bunch, and I am sure we will make sure we make the most of this opportunity.
