Albert Jackson

July 1988

A founder member of the District Scout Fellowship, who received the Chief Scout’s Commendation for good services to the movement, has died.

Mr Albert Jackson (68), of Smithy Lane, Heysham, was a long standing supporter of the Scout movement. He was secretary of the 6th Morecambe and Heysham Scout Group Committee for many years until it amalgamated with the 5th to form the Centurion Scout Group in a new headquarters in Kingsway, Heysham.

He and his wife, Kitty, were both founder members of the District Scout Fellowship.

Many Scouting and family friends attended the funeral service in Lancaster Crematorium on Friday. The service was taken by the Secretary of the Lonsdale District Scout Council, Mr P. Gedge. The District Commissioner, Mr P. Ellwood read the lesson.

Mr Jackson was a former employee of the Trimpell, Heysham.

Money in memory of Mr Jackson will go to the Scout Holiday Homes Trust.
Mr Jackson leaves his wife, Kitty, and a son, Jimmy, and daughter, Ann.
