Edgar Henry Barrow was born in Lancaster 10 May 1894. He was a son of Charles Edwin Barrow and Mary Ann Stirzaker who were married in West Derby in 1887. Charles was a Master Tailor by profession – at 8 New Street, Lancaster from 1891.

In the 1901 census the family is at 29, Regent Street, Lancaster.

Looking at the 1911 census Edgar is boarding at 34 Blinco Grove Cherryhinton, Cherry Hinton, Cambridgeshire
“Edgar Barrow Boarder Single Clerk Railway 16 1895 born Lancs Lancaster”.

Edgar married Kathleen Grace Heap at St. Peter, Heysham in 1925.

In 1939 Edgar is listed at Toc H Mark XVIII Grainger Park Road , Newcastle-upon-Tyne. He is a Charity Organiser & Lecturer. His wife is at 11 Heysham Avenue, Morecambe and Heysham – living with her father & mother Frank & Elizabeth Heap.

From various newspaper reports it is evident that Edgar was a member of the Headquarters Organizing Staff of the NSPCC. From c. 1938 onwards he seems to have travelled all around the country lecturing at annual branch meetings etc. on matters concerning the Society.

Edgar died in 1957.
