St. Chad’s Party 1943

Rover Scout Moot, Monzie, Perthshire 1939

24th Lancaster Christmas Party

Lancaster Guardian, Friday 8 January 1943

SCOUTING NOTES

Quite a festive atmosphere prevailed at St. Chad’s on Wednesday the occasion being the Christmas Party of the 24th Lancaster Troop. Despite rationing all the parents of the boys had contrived to spare something from the larder to make a “do” and a happy gathering numbering nearly 50 Scouts, Guides, parents and friends, enjoyed an excellent tea tastefully served by the Ladies, Mesdames Dudley, Johnson, and Wilks. District Commissioner J. Dodds Drummond, Mr. L.H. Slater, Scoutmaster Scharwbe and Rev. H. G. Moss were present during the evening. The Guides performed a sketch, carols were sung by the Scouts and a round of games followed The proceedings ended with the singing of the National Anthem and Auld Lang Syne. Scoutmaster H. L. Wareing thanked all who had made the event possible.

Incidentally, Scoutmaster Wareing has received Christmas greetings from a Rover Scout in Sweden, Herbert Krishansson, whom he met at the Rover Moot in Scotland in 1939. Scouting ties are worldwide, and even in the stress of the present times, the friendships of happy pre-war days are not forgotten.
