Kenneth Ravenscroft Stanley

Lancaster Association Secretary 1944-1948

Kenneth Ravenscroft Stanley was born 27 November 1912 in Preston.

In 1911 the family was living at 10 Lytham Road Fulwood Preston – The father, Henry, is a Barrister.

Henry Stanley 1872-1937 was born in Blackley, Manchester. Kenneth’s mother Dora Louise Heath was born 30 June 1875 in Southport. The couple married 8 March 1906 St Andrew’s, Southport.

In 1939 Kenneth and his widowed mother were at 250, St Thomas’ Road, Preston. He is an “Incorporated Accountant Taxation Work”.

Blackpool funeral of Mr. Henry Stanley 

The funeral took place at Carleton Crematorium, Blackpool, yesterday, of Mr. Henry Stanley, of 250, St. Thomas’s-road, Deepdale, Preston, who died at his home on Saturday night at the age of 63.  Mr. Stanley was senior barrister at Preston sessions and was well known at the Lancashire Assizes and Sessions as a barrister with great experience in criminal law.

A short service was conducted in the chapel by the Rev. P. H. Goodwin, pastor at Cannon-street Congregational Church, Preston, and afterwards the ashes were scattered in the Garden of Rest in the crematorium grounds.

Among the family mourners and friends were Mrs. Stanley (widow), Messrs. Sydney and Kenneth R. Stanley (sons), Mr. George Stanley (brother), Miss C. G. Heath, Southport (sister in law), Mr. Frank Kinder, Mr. and Mrs. Stanley Eteson, Miss Cicelely Sharples, Miss Rose Sharples and Mrs. Shenty (Blackpool).

Also present were Mr. J. C. McComb (representing  Sir George Etherton, Clerk to the Lancashire County Council, Messrs. C. E. Goolden and T. A. Cunliffe (representing the Bar) and and Mr. A.C.M. Lillie (representing the Stanley of Preston Lodge of Freemasons).   

Kenneth married Annie Swindlehurst in 1943 at St. John, Preston.

Lancaster Guardian 25 June 1948:-
County Secretary, Mr. David Fitchie resigned and Mr. Kenneth R. Stanley, Secretary of the Lancaster Boy Scouts Association, was elected to succeed him.

SCOUTS NEW SECRETARY

Mr. W. Lord of 6, Cork Road, Lancaster, has been appointed to succeed Mr. Kenneth R. Stanley as hon. secretary of the Lancaster and District Boy Scouts Association. 

Kenneth died in Darlington in 1988 (qtr 3).
