Leaders’ Training Opportunities

I have planned 2 training events for leaders in September. I thought I had e-mailed this information to you all about this already, but it seems that I may not have. Please discuss this with your teams and let me know if there is anyone who would benefit from either of these training courses.

They are coming up imminently and I will need to confirm numbers soon, so please let me know asap.

13th/14th Sept National Water Safety Management Programme level 1, level 2 beach and river.
Silver Sapling Guides Camp, Silverdale

This is a nationally recognised programme which is being adopted by more and more organisations as standard water safety training, covering both civil and statutory liabilities to ensure the provision of appropriate training, and practical skills for participants to ensure safety in water environments. The NWSMP is endorsed by Scouts as the appropriate training for Scout leaders leading activities in or around water such as river, lake and canal banks and on beaches.

27th Sept Foundation Safety and Rescue Course
Devil’s Bridge, Kirkby Lonsdale

This is the obligatory BCU course leading to BCU coaching qualifications. It is also essential training to all leaders with young people in boat-based activities – sailing, rowing etc.

I have attached further details and application forms for both of these courses.
