Morecambe Scouts’ Meeting 1939

At the annual general meeting of Morecambe and Heysham Boy Scouts’ Association , the Mayor of Morecambe (Councillor F. Clayton) presided, supported by County Alderman T. W. Helme (County Commissioner), Mr. J. D. Drummond (District Commissioner) and Mr. F. C. Wright (Assistant District Commissioner). The Secretary (Mr. G. S. Evenden) stated that a fully trained A.R.P. patrol had been formed of boys over 16; each member had earned both the National Service and Civil Defence badges, and the patrol had been officially attached to the local Civil Defence authority. Three Scoutmasters, four Assistant Scoutmasters and three Rover Scouts were on active service.

It was stated that 30 tenderpad, 66 tenderfoot, 30 2nd class and 71 proficiency badges had been awarded during the year, and that this total was a slight decrease on last year.

The following officials were appointed:-
Messrs. P. Hughes (chairman), E. E. Lupton (vice-chairman), G. S. Evenden (secretary), H. Parker (treasurer).
